Returning to School

Students are going back to school next week and we are sure that everyone is excited. Kids are looking forward to catching up with friends. Teachers and support staff are looking forward to seeing kids again. Parents and carers will be pleased that kids can return to face to face learning.

uEducateUs will be there to help schools look after students and support learning.

All areas

Childcare centres and kindergartens are open throughout all of Victoria.

Children of permitted workers and vulnerable children can continue going to school. Outside school hours care will be available.

The GAT for VCE students will take place on Wednesday October 7th

Performance and Oral examinations begin Monday October 12th

VCE exams begin Tuesday November 10th

Regional Victoria

Schools will be open for all students for face to face learning in regional Victoria in Term 4.

Week 1 October 5–9

Prep to Grade 6 will return to on-site learning.

Prep to Grade 6 in P-12 schools will return to on-site learning from Thursday.

Schools may spread out the return of year levels during the week.

Week 2 from October 12

Year 7 to 10 and VCE and VCAL students will return to on-site learning.

Schools may stagger the return of year levels during the week.

Metropolitan Melbourne

Week 1 October 5–9

Children will learn from home.

Week 2 from October 12

Prep to Grade 6 will return to on-site learning.

Students enrolled VCE or VCAL will return to on-site learning.

Children in specialist schools will return to on-site learning.

Schools may stagger the return of year levels during the week.

Face Masks

Students

Secondary students including those attending specialist schools must wear a face mask at school and while travelling to and from school.

Primary students including those in Prep to Year 6 who attend a P-12 school will not be required to wear a face mask.

Some students are exempt from wearing a face mask. Specific exemptions

Teachers and Support Staff

Teachers and support staff must wear a face mask at school, and when travelling to and from school.

Teachers and support staff will not be required to wear face masks while teaching but can if they wish.

Masks should be worn in the staffroom, on yard duty, when providing first aid and at other times.

Parents and carers

Parents and carers will be required to wear face masks for school drop off and pick up. If travelling alone in a car, or only with members of their household, a mask does need to be worn.
